The main disk is copper with a small amount of tin , the gold is gold
alloy Just under 18 carat gold how the gold was fixed to the copper
is not clear. The gold symbols are Egyptian in origin especially the
boat under the sun... In the year 1998 the disk was tested by Cookson
PLC Birmingham, they Stated that the origin of the copper was Egypt,
the Gold on the disk... Was tested by the Birmingham assay office they
stated that the gold was North African, carthage, origin of the gold
Ashanti mines, Ghana, West Africa, (qv) the disk was made in carthage
by members of the Roman army as there division symbol. This division
was moved to Portugal and then to Britain ending up in The Manchester
Roman fort. The Melandra roman fort was a subdivision Of the Manchester
roman fort.
